Arioc Castle
Arioc Castle is the stronghold of
humanity on Eturac Veil. Located on the southwestern part of the island, the
city, like the entire kingdom, has prospered through trade with the elves and
nereans as well as with countries abroad. Arioc’s military might has no rival on
Eturac Veil, and its militaristic focus is readily apparent throughout the city,
be it in the residential district, the marketplace or the castle’s keep. The
military serves not just as soldiers, but police and occasionally judge and
jury, making Arioc Castle one of the safest places in all of Eturac Veil.
Candileece, The Last
Outpost
Candileece is an outpost located just
south of what used to be Szzlari territory. The fortress was constructed for one
purpose: to cut off the Dream Caller from the rest of the island. Candileece is
literally a doorstop, completely blocking the only valley that leads away from
the Dream Caller’s tower. Although some believed that nothing could stop the
Dream Caller from advancing, if he wished to, Candileece was the island’s best
hope at trying. On its north side are two walls, the outer is 30 feet high and
the inner 50 feet. The main gates for each wall have a portcullis of solid
stone, two feet thick. At the bottom of the 10 foot gap between the two walls is
a moat of oil, to be lit should the Dream Caller ever come near. A crow’s nest
style tower stands behind eastern side of the inner wall, reaching 75 feet in
into the sky. The southern wall is but 10 feet high, making the outpost nearly
indefensible should Dream Caller ever capture it. Candileece’s garrison consists
of all three of the island’s civilized races under the capable command of Sir
Illian the paladin.
Neremore, City of Night
Neremore is the home of the reclusive
nereans. Located high in the mountains on the southwestern region of Eturac
Veil, Neremore is in a state perpetual winter. Snowfall occurs year-round,
making Neremore’s weather no less abrasive than its inhabitants. As a people,
nereans are accomplished artisans, and their city is a bright reflection of
their craft. One can not visit any residence in Neremore without finding an
assortment of beautifully sculpted statues and intricately detailed stain glass
windows. The atmosphere has brought many a tourist to the city of night, as one
can spend days marveling at the exteriors of even the simplest of nerean homes.
The Holy City of Lariadon
The Holy City of Lariadon is the home to
the followers of Larissa, goddess of light, and the resting place of Kendal, the
first paladin. It is here that the world-famous Kendal Academy trains young
hopefuls the ways of the Paladin. Eturac Veil’s largest port city, Lariadon's
docks cater to many a merchant, pilgrim and weary traveler. Lariadon is also the
seat of power for the High Priestess of Larissa. Hand picked by the goddess
herself, the high priestess is anything but a figurehead. Her authority is
near-absolute, capable of rallying both Serpherin and Arioc to war, despite
either country’s opinion on the matter. Seldom used, the high priestess’ power
has never been abused. It is not known whether or not this is a testament to
Larissa’s judgment or simply a product of the fear her wrath can instill.
The Elven City of Sepherin
Nestled in a large clearing in the center
of a vast forest is the elven capital of Sepherin. Unlike most elven structures,
Sepherin is made not just of wood, but stone. Referred to by some as the “Stone
Garden” the city is built around the largest tree in the world. Sepherin’s stone
hallways are held up by the unnaturally thick branches of the tree, making the
whole city appear to be some sort of mad attempt to merge the architecture of
elves and dwarfs together. Not even the eldest elf on the island can explain
Sepherin’s peculiar design, but even the most unobservant can tell that magic
played no small part. The stone walls are enchanted, capable of healing
substantial damage, growing new stone to replace the old. Some elves say that
the walls are every bit alive as the tree they surround.
